A study on some types of typical local winds in the Northewest of Vietnam: Northwest of Vietnam is one of few regions which has alot of special and "abnormal" weather phenomena. Among these special weather phenomena, different kinds of local winds are those that seriously affect the climate in this region, especially the heat system and humidity system. The action of the West wind and O Quy Ho wind creates high temperatures, hot weather, low humidity, which interrupt the rainy season in the Northwest. The action of Than Uyen wind makes the winter air drier and colder, the summer air drier and hotter.
Analysing nature potentiality for tourism development in Cat Ba archipelago bisphere reserve: Cat Ba archipelago bisphere reserve in located approximately 50 km east of Hai Phong city. The nature lanscape for tourism development in Cat Ba archipelago include: topography (karts limestone island, limestone mountain range, caves, lagoons, sand beaches...); climate-hydrography, and special ecosystems (tropical evergreen monsoon foerest; coral reef, mangrove)... they are very importan for tourism in now and future.

Pilot study in Hoa Binh province: The software Arc GIS is multipurpose intrument, it creates a lot of advantage for establishment maps of soil environmental status. Quality of soil environment is firstly assessed with specific criterion, and synthesized, basinged on which quality of environmental soil will be evaluated by P and P*. The results can serve as basic data on which actual status of environmental soil can be mapped. Climate differentiation in the Northern and North Eastern physiographic region of Vietnam: The Northern and North Eastern region belongs to the climate region of the North of Vietnam. Based on standards of average temperature in Junuary, the amount of precipitation and the rainy season, we can see that there are two climate regions there: mountain and midland climate region of the north and the climate region of Northern plain. In each climate region, it is then divided into different subregion. The mountain climate region is further broken down into three subregions: the western climate subregion, the central climate subregion and Quang Ninh coastal climate subregion. Determination of Fansipan peak's altitude by use of GPS, nivellement, gravity and topography data: Based on GPS levelling technology and using GPS, nivellement, gravity and topography data the authors have determined new value of Fansipan peak's altitude. The new altitude is 3147.3 m and has been defined with the accuracy of 0.1 m while the old value received mainly by use of barometer in the French colonization time and published first in 1909 is 3142 m wihtout any reliable information about its determination error.

Evaluate synthetically the genesis geography and soil degradation in Gam river basin from viewpoint of sustainable development: The synthetic effect of genesis processes and soil degradation in condition of monsoon tropical climate of the mountainous region, plateau and impacts of human activity has created 18 different types of soil in Gam river basin. The types of soils that have potential degradation (T) and present degradation (H) are very popular, so the status of soil degradation (SG) of Gam river basin in medium level (SG2) and high level (SG3) highly occupies ratio, equivalently 42,22% and 39,08% of total area of basin. To exploit soil resources from viewpoint of sustainable development need plan soil use a ccording to basin, basing on the correlation analysis between potential degradation and present degradation. On each kind of agricultural ecology must define models of suitable cultivation; exploitation combines with soil protection improvement by biological technology and by forms of agro forestry systems; transfer land use and increase raise percentage of forest cover.
Forestry landscape in human modification and succession of anthro-natural landscapes in Yen Bai province: Existing landscape, which human activities are the main factor of landscape foundation and modification so we called them as anthro-natural landscape. In those landscapes, forestry landscape is very important. In Yen Bai, this is a province in northwest mountainous areas of Vietnam, forestry landscape make up a large area. Forestry landscape structure of Yen Bai territory has been modified in space and time, that make succession of them and strickly depend on human activities. The study of modification and succession of antropogenic forestry landscape is one of important scientific base that contributes to reasonal utilization of Yen bai territory at present and in future.
