This paper presents a solution in order to install tractor diesel engine D243 on boats. The major work focuses on optimization of cam profiles, valve timing at the targeted common working regime of the engine. Based on the calculation results made on AVL Boost and AVL Tycon, a new camshaft was designed and manufactured. Results from this work show that, the modified engine meets all working targets of a waterway--purpose-engine.

This paper presents the experimental investigation of a small IDI dual fueling biogas premixed charge-diesel compression ignition engine used in agricultural application. Results shown are revealing a comparison between straight diesel and dual fuel operation with respect to engine pelformance, diesel fuel substitution, energy consumption. Concerning effects on engine long-term used with respect to engine wear, lubricant oil consumption had also been monitored. The results show that biogas-diesel dual fuelling to small IDI CI engine reveals almost no decrease in engine performance, lower energy conversion efficiency which is offset by reduced fuel cost of biogas over diesel. The long-term use of this type of engine with biogas dual fuel mode is feasible with some considerations.

Increasing power and decreasing the length of engines in particular automobile engines involves aplication of V-6 instead of L-6 cylinder-arangement. On the other hand the balance of V-6 engines is worse than L-6 ones and balancing calculation for them by traditional methods faces up to difficulties. This task will be easier and quicklier by using vector decomposing method.

The Comlex software of IHI Engineering Inc. (Japan) is the simulation of diesel engine combustion process. Beside the simulation using for teaching. the Comlex is also using for research and development of diesel engine base on the available actual engine. This is the open software; user can enter data of any diesel engine then can:v out the calculation process. However, with over 100 input data. the data entering process required the deep knowledge ojlhe user about the diesel engine and its combustion process. To simulate a specific engine, it is necessary to enter the data of the engine and adjust the calculating coefficients so that the calculated values are in accordance with reality. The author using the diesel engine Hanshin LH41 LA as a concrete example for illustrating the method of utilizing Comlex.

The Common-Rail injection system has been used in modern engines widely. The paper demontrates a simple Common-Rail system using GT-Fuel code. The injector needle lift is prescribed as a function of angle. The system includes a hydraulic damper and pressure regulator valve. The results was presented in graphic and could used to study the injection system with difference commponents.

The article presents a new studying method and some experimental results of the acceleration testing for the diesel engines. The experiments has been carried out on some tractor engines such as SD3000A (made in Japan) and D240 (made in Belarus) with using the available measuring instruments and software. With the free acceleration way, we can not only determine accurately remain maximum output of the tested engine, but also built its current power performance. It is quite suitable and effective diagnosis mode in the field condition for engines in use.

This paper gives a brief review on the dual fuel engines of compression ignition type with gaseous/liquid fuels as a second fuel. The facets related to this type of engine operation have been mentioned: Trends in engine performance, energy consumption, exhaust gas emissions, and combustion noise as well as combustion characteristics that result in these trends. Solutions to improve dual fuel combustion characteristics and engine performance have also been determined and explained.

The use of hydrogen as gasoline additional fuel in internal combustion engine is a very interesting and accredited approach for the reduction of exhaust gas emissions. However the employment of hydrogen introduces problems in the fuel distribution and storage systems. These drawbacks could be overcome by using on-board hydrogen production systems. In this paper, an exhaust gas assisted reforming system is developed and coupled with the exhaust system to produce and supply hydrogen rich fuel for the engine. The engine test with this system shows that the HC and NOx emissions considerably decrease compared with that of base-line engine operation.

Rapid engine warm up and catalyst lightoff are two important factors deciding the overall exhaust emissions in diesel engine equipped with catalytic converter because the catalyst is virtually not in function at engine cold start period until the light-off temperature is reached, wich is about 170oC-400oC There are a number of ways to increase the catalytic efficiency at cold start. This paper focuses on fast heating the catalysts by increasing exhaust temperature from advancing valve timing at engine cold start. This is similar to retard fuel injection, except that varying exhaust valve timing should have little influence on engine combustion and only result in a small reduction in engine power output at cold engine starts. The feasibility and detailed engine performance analysis have been investigated based on computer simulation using MERLIN-DEEPC Combustion Engine Simulation Software [1] and validated by engine tests. Simulation work involved with the prediction of engine's performance and catalytic effectiveness with different valve timing, such as advancing exhaust valve opening only and all valve timing phase, has been conducted.

While calculation of fuel supplied specification of diesel engines, the compressive coefficient and residual pressure in high pressure supplying ducts are simplified to be constants. However, these parameters depend quite a lot on structure and specific operating condition of the engine. This article presents some measured results on fuel-supplied specification which take into account the influence of these parameters.

Hanoi, 2006 Investigation of influences of EGR and alternative fuels on thermodynamic and emission parameters of a heavy-duty engine
An important goal in diesel engine research is the development of a means to reduce the emissions, especially oxides of nitrogen (NOx) for meeting a number of increasingly more stringent emission requirements and finding alternative fuels and applying them in the vehicles because crude oil resources also have been running out of. Experimental results from a heavy-duty DI engine that has been equipped with external exhaust gas re-circulation system (there is not exhaust gas re-circulation system in the prototype engine) are used to analyse and compare the effects of different EGR rates, different EGR temperatures, different injection delivery timing and different alternative fuels, for example: RME, the blend of RME with diesel fuel and O2 diesel. The present results show that emissions can be reduced with minimum penalty of specific fuel consumption under above operating conditions. In addition, thermodynamics parameters and cylinder pressure level [dB(A)] also are estimated and analysed.

Having oil sample analyzed on a regular scheduled basic can be a very effective method of monitoring the condition of machinery and equipment components. Done right. it provides early warning of potential problems with the machinery or with the lubricant itself. Early warning of impending failures can reduce the high cost of major overhauls. Oil analysis offers information about two areas: 1- the physical condition of the lubricating oil, sllch as its viscosity, neutralization number, or level of contamination, and 2- the condition of the component or system from which the oil sample was taken.

Using ethanol as a fuel is a tendency paid allfention all over the world because it is a recycle fuel. After analysing structure of the original gasoline-fuel system on motorbikes made in Viet Nam, this report suggests The way to improve it to be able to use mixture of ethanol and gasoline in the ethanol ratio of 50%-85%. Test results show that with this ratio. engine operates well and exhaust pollution parameters decrease less.

Standard emission measurements give average value of the emission over the corresponding driving cycle. Instantaneolls emission measurements can be conducted parallel to standard emission measllrements, however, the sampling rates and analysis are carried out within every unit of time, such as second, one-tenth second. Nevertheless, the measured instantaneous emission signals are required to align with engine power and engine speed signals. Practically, the measured instantaneous emission signals misalign with engine power and speed signals. In addition. these measured signals are smoothed comparable with their signals at engine-out. These problems are discussed in this paper. The transport and mixing of exhaust gas emissions in the exhaust pipe and sampling ducts were simulated using CFD, FLUENT code. Simulation results are valuable bases to create a correction method for measured instantaneous emission signals in the next step.

Internal combustion engine (ICE) is the main, unchangeable energical source on transport. construction, gen-set... equipments. Advanced research and development of ICE is a task concerned with many global problems as air pollution, fatal raising of fuel price owing to exhaustion of crude oil resources, reinforcement of energy security... It is a challenge and at the same time a moving force to shift toward the development of new technologies for ICE, to what the most world's well-known R&D centers and corporations have to face up. Consequently, in conditions of our young ICE branch, the organisation of research and development or production activities of any new internal combustion engine needs a very scrupulous study of world's contemporary strategies.

Using biofuel is one of the best solutions to resolve the environmental pollution from internal conbustion engines. Because of the increasing of conventional fuel price, and of using the potentiality of agriculture and food industry, the topic of the development of biofuel has been concerned more and more in Vietnam. This paper presents experimental results on the single cylinder engine AVL 5402, using biodiesel, blending up to 20% of coconut oil by volume in diesel, conducted in ICE Laboratory, Hanoi University of Technology.

Researching to use LPG on ignition engine gets many good results and being applied to clean means of transportation in Viet Nam. This newspaper introduces some test results when using mixture LPG and Diesel on Mazda engine with Diesel as a pilot flame. Researchs are carried out at Engine and Vihicle Test Center of Da Nang University. Test results show some technological problems which need to be solved while using mixture LPG and Diesel on dual fuel engine.

Cranhhaft torsional vibrations hap penes becauses all harmonic orders. To solved quite simply, the only main orders are considered. In some cases, torsional vibration analysis of the crankshaft happenses becauses all harmonic orders shows that the elastic moments of crankshaft are larger than allowable moment. Althought, if only conseders the main orders then the elastic moments of cranhhaft are smaller than allowbale moment. The purpose of this paper is to present torsional vibration analysis of the crankshaft happenses becauses all harmonic orders.
