Vietnam INFOTERRA Center was established in 1979 with the decision No 4117-VP10 dated Sep.14, 1979 by the Minister’s Council, (now renamed The Government) in response to the UNEP's request to designate a National Focal Point to join the Global Environmental Information Exchange System (UNEP/INFOTERRA).
Vietnam INFOTERRA Center acting as a part of National Center for Scientific and Technological Information, Ministry of Science and Technology.
The primary function of the Vietnam INFOTERRA Center is to coordinate Infoterra activities at the country level, provide a national environmental information service and a referral services to appropriate sources such as policy/decision-makers, scientists, planners, researchers and general public and also to exchange environmental information all over the world.
