The experimental results showed that the oral administration of Radix Notoginseng (RD) with the dose of 5g/kg body weight exhibited the moderate recovering effect on CCl4-induced liver injuries in rats. Although the serum ASAT concentration in CCl4-intoxicated and RD-treated group was still higher than that of control-normal group after one day, it was significantly lower than that of intoxicated and non treated group (p<0.01). There were no differences in ALAT concentration between RD-and CCl4-treated groups in that day. The four days treatment with Radix Notoginseng has reduced the concentrations of both ASAT and ALAT to normal levels while ASAT in CCl4-intoxicated rats was still higher.
