Actual status of water source, environment, water quality and solutions for water source development in Day river basin and Ninh Binh province area

The study pointed out morphological characters of river system in Ninh Binh province in correlation with the other outside province rivers. The article also mentioned its functions of irrigation, transportation, flood prevention and drainage; peculiarities of water regime and negative changes of water quality. The article proposed resolutions for a good functional implementation of river system in Ninh Binh, especially of Day river such as: planning on protection and development of water source in Day River Basin based on water's demands of the basin residents for productive and domestic activities, and pollution overcoming...till the year of 2010; assesssing impacts of drainage functions of Day River system; building observation stations at important places to check up the changes of water quantity and quality and making sure that waster must have been treated well before pouring into river.

Ethnic minorities and forest protection in biological areas in Quang Binh-Quang Tri

The article pointed out the impacts that the ethnic minorities in Quang Binh, Quang Tri contributed to declination of forest area and biological diversification: forest burning for cultivation land resulting in forest fire, wild beast hunting, illegal logging, short-term land using and slope land cultivating. These negative impacts could be avoidable if local authorities, forest and national-park' management units, and conservation and development projects based their activities on community-based institutions and organizations in promoting customary laws, regulations and their self-management. Only in so doing, the conservation and development of National Park can be in reality, forest resources and biological diversification in northern area of Truong Son in Quang Binh, Quang Tri province could be effectively done. Furthermore, the above-mentioned organizations and projects should pay attention to appropriate aspirations raised by local inhabitants of national conservation zone Phong Nha - Ke Bang and its buffer zone related to irrigation development, job and income creation and being beneficiaries from the income-generated activities of the park.

The article generally introduced Do Son town - a tourism area of Hai Phong City and its territorial types and tectonics. The author warned local people and concerned agencies of environmental calamities from tourism activities and natural changes and proposed resolutions in protecting ecological environment in Do Son peninsula in particular and Do Son Town in general.

The issue of national boundary is sensitive and important to the existence and development of each nation. Therefore, it has been our forefather's concern since centuries BC. This article is written only about the land boundary between Vietnam and China with the following contents: Briefing on the Vietnam-China boundary, the protecting Vietnam-China boundary in the feudual time, the Boundary Treaties in the French-occupation time, the Vietnam-China boundary Treaty dated 30 December 1999 and its meaning. National marine boundary will be explained in the next edition.

The Vietnam coastal zone is a region with high potential of natural conditions and resources for socio-economic development in this region and Vietnam in general. Therefore, from the geographical side, the resources and environments have a lot of obstructions in implementing development plans. The results of the study show that it is necessary to have reasonable policies, scientific and technical measures. Socio-economy in this region will have sustainable development in the future.
