The human issue in Francis Bacon's philosophy
-
Francis Bacon was the founder of British materialism and laid the foundations for the modern experimentalism. Called himself as the philosophical revolutionist, he made a revolution in methodology, removed sophism and metaphysical thinking that used to be prevalent in medieval scholasticism and brought in a new method of understanding the world and the social life. Though he did not go deeply into the human issues, his works reflected his profound concern on the human and the world, the relationships between the human and the world, and his special respect and high appreciation of the power of human knowledge in process of understanding and changing the world. He was also the explorer of a new world - a world where human had been living for centuries yet it was left forgotten because of sophistic interests. He was the one who shook the human's blind beliefs in dogmatism..., annihilating the invisible ghosts, wiping out the nonsense sentences that used to cover human eyes with misunderstandings of the nature. He was, according to a Russian philosopher, like Columbus who discovered America as he did discover a world in which the human is the slave and at the same time the explainer and presenter of the natural world, the catcher and thinker of the world order.

Vietnam in transition to a market economy and globalization
-
Vietnam has been experiencing a process of renovation (Doi Moi). Market economy, door opening and international integration and globalization are the main contents of Renovation. Regarding market economy, one major content is to build a multi-ownership commodity economy, or since 2001 it has been shortly called as "to build a socialism-oriented market economy". To Vietnamese scholars, this is the framework-based economy and aimed at achieving "prosperous people, strong country, and a society of equity, democracy and civilization", for the Vietnamese people to get rid of poverty, to be enriched legally; and for the economy to be developed in parallel with cultural development for the purpose of sustainable human development. Regarding door-opening, international integration and globalization, the major contents are to participate into the global market, to establish bilateral and multilateral cooperation relations under the slogan "Vietnam wants to befriend with all friendship and peace loving countries in the world". This article presents the Vietnamese people's recognition and attitudes toward these renovation contents.
