Needs and reproductive health concerns of young ethnic adolescents

The article was based on quantitative and qualitative research results of adolescents (10-19 years old) belonging to Tay, Dao, San Chay (Cao Lan-San Chi) at Lang Son and Quang Ninh provinces. 6 main findings have been discovered through research relating to needs and concerns of adolescents' reproductive health, emphasizing on needs of information and knowledge on signs of puberty age, sexual relation concerns and conception. However, they have poor knowledge of cGntraceptives and sexually transmitted diseases (STDs).

Northern central part: Initial feeling

With historic, cultural and ethnic data and evidence, the author has proved that the Northern Central part of Vietnam after the l0th century had become a homeland for many ethnic groups with various languages such as Viet-Muong, Malayo-Polynesie, Mon-Khmer. They had lived in different parts of Royal Champa where Cham people were not the ethnic majority. Through historic changes, the population on the mountains and hills had integrated into the Vietnamese community in the process of Southern marching to become the delta people of the existing coastal delta. Those who lived on the mountains and hills now called Ta Oi, Bru-Van Kieu and Co Tu.

On sustainable economic development models of Khmer in South of Vietnam

There are more than i milion Khmer people living in the South. Their socio-economic development has been influenced by Buddhism principally through the education system in which members of community, mostly men, receive education in pagodas. The paper has drawn the actual socio-economic situation of Khmer community in this region, especially the rate of poor household still stands at 20%. To tackle this problem, the author has proposed economic development model in Ca Mau peninsula and coastal area.

Some folk forms of beliefs of the Tay, Nung in Vietnam and Choang in China

Ethnic populations of the Tay and Nung in Vietnam and Choang in China are big, belonging to the Tay- Thai ethnic languages. There are a lot of similarities among these ethnic populations in terms of originality, history and culture. The article compares some similarities and differences of religion and belief of these populations indicated through Heaven and Earth, ancestors' (human's ancestors, family, genie of the earth, ethnic Genie and Nature Genie) cult.

Some thoughts on san Chay (Cao Lan-San Chi) ethnicity

Since 1979, the ethnicity of San Chay has been defined in the list of ethnicities in Vietnam. According to researches, this ethnicity includes 2 local groups: Cao Lan and San Chi. However, there have been conflicting ideas on whether these 2 groups are classified into 1 groups to prove that, despite some minor differences, these 2 groups are of the same origin and they share some cultural identities. The author comes to the conclusion that it is reasonable to classify these two groups into 1 ethnic minority.

Some words on Rong's house (communal house) and Central Plateau's cultural Rong house

Rong house (communal house) in the Central Plateau have often been seen at Bana, Xodang, cotu, Romam, Gie Trieng and Gia Rai. Rong houses used to be common houses for communities built by local people with local available construction materials. Rong houses had 3 main functions: Society: Rong houses have been used as a meeting or receiving place, Culture: Festival and recreation organization and Religion (genie cult). In recent years, with Government's policy on construction of "Rong cultural house", many Rong houses in the Central Plateau were built in concrete and were not used as traditionally. The article suggests some recommendations to restore and presrve Rong houses in the Central Plateau of which construction of Rong houses should be carried on by local people and its function of belief should be maintained.
