This article presents a summary of the integrated impacts of growth and trade liberalization in the rice sector of Vietnam. Trade liberalization has many positive impacts on the economy- food security and on poverty alleviation, but mainly negative impacts on environment. In fact., rice expansion and intensification have negative environmental impacts such as soil degradation, water pollution and loss of agro biodiversity, loss of aquatic habitant, fresh water and human physical health, forest an wetlands limitation and the replacement of traditional rice varieties with modern ones. These impacts make increasing costs for water purification, soil rehabilitation, health care ... Solutions to reduse these environmental impacts was also be investigated herein.
