During the weaning stage (6-12 months old), the diet of HF cross-bred calves reaches 115% against the energy needs (UFL) and protein (pDI) compared to France's standards, which help calves further absorb nutrients, grow quickly and narrow the duration of estruation and first mating (17.2 months). At 13 months, calves need a diet of 152% when being mated (ensuring 100% needs).
