Awareness on architectural aesthetics should be improved further in the society

Coexistence with heterotopias

Hanoi and undesired heterotopic areas while the trend of urban development in the world is orienting firmness, Hanoi development is in the period of creating "heterotopias" in relatively large scale, unprecedented rapid speed with latent contradictions. Heterotopias in Hanoi take too large proportion. In almost cities there are the heterotopias but their impact in every city is different. However, the problem is to localize this region to keep healthy urban image. The government can control them in the future. The heterotopic development of the urbanized villages contains 3 main issues such as old spatial structure, small division of private land and self-help development. Among these issues, two issues originate from social mechanism. Hence, it is impossible to limit the spread of these areas if we implement simply transformation of spatial. planning. Localizing the heterotopias means to control the small division of the private land and self-help development. This trend should be implemented strictly along new roads, low density population points. It is necessary to collect the land for redistribution and form new resources.

Self-help housing: does it exist or not

A trend of constructing high-rise buildings in the cities is indispensable due to its preeminent (with respect to economy, land use effect) that creates modern architectural landscape, improves maximum living environment as well as convenience in urban management... But creating a new thought appropriate to high-rise buildings for the people is not easy. It depends much on duties of investors in construction, serious study of architects to design apartments suitable to living conditions of Vietnamese. At a housing conference, one social researcher was reasonable when he put a question "Who and which country the house has been designed for?". Many self-help houses were built in every alley of the city while architectural theorists were discussing the "achievement" as well as "unperfected things" of our contemporary architecture. It is time (despite it is too late) to have more practical look at this architectural field to propose effective management measures. It is also a chance for the architects to express their capability and duties in the front of the society.

The next coming future for Vietnam architecture: to keep up with world architecture

Vietnam architecture does not lie beyond such development. In the front of changes of the economy, unformed cultural level of the investors it is difficult to have actual architectural works. Clients of the architects are clearly distributed. The first group includes people with knowledge and culture and given awareness so they respect intellectual work of the designers. It is very glad because this group is expanding. The second group consists of "safe" people. They consider colonial architecture is most suitable to Vietnamese life-style and aesthetics despite they do not penetrate this kind of architecture. The third group contains people without a habit of respecting creation. They are ready to turn the architects of less stuff into simple drawers serving their wishes which is sometimes unreasonable. In general, three groups are existing in parallel and transforming each other. This transformation is necessary in the context of growth of Vietnam economy in respect to quantity accumulation and selection of Vietnam culture to develop in new integration. Only by this time, many architectural buildings express various trends.

Urban architecture a problem of the whole people

It is needed to improve knowledge on the architecture for the managers, the rich to avoid unreasonable requirements for the reason of benefit many architects ignore and obey. Low intellectual level of the population together with loose management are main factors for pollution of urban architecture. In order to enhance intellectual level, the role of cultural researchers, intellectual class and press offices is very important. They should be combined into one force with regular advertisement for urban architectural matters with attractive columns that looks toward not only a commercial purpose but also new altitude. At first, it concentrates on the strict fight against architectural pollution.
